I felt confident as the doctor entered the room to give me my results. And I had good reason to because I do NOT have cervical cancer or any abnormal growths on my uterus. Whew! I had a huge grin on my face as he told me the plan for me to get my period back. I do however have Poly Cystic Ovarian Syndrome PCOS, and that is causing my boding to overproduce insulin and store it as fat. Thus my superb ability to gain weight for even smelling bread. lol!
The treatment plan is for me to take a diabetic medicine Metformin 3 times a day and to return in 6 months to see if I am losing weight and having my menses. Once my period returns and I have lost enough weight to stabilize my blood pressure and my insulin levels are regulated I can talk about babies. So another medication to take but I am excited to have control over my insulin levels. I pray to the Lord that this plan will work out. Cross your fingers and say a little prayer for me if you pray. Otherwise I always appreciate your tender and thoughtful comments of encouragement.
I hope everyone has a safe Halloween and enjoys getting out of the house while the weather is crisp and sunny. (depending on where you live I suppose)
With Love,
In the Pink
Oh, come in
It is an honor to have you. The contents for this blog are from my personal experiences. Sometimes I will write about being bipolar and sometimes I won't.
I have been Bipolar I for 10+years and medicated for over 9. This blog looks into my treatment history, current therapies, my interest, recipes, love, music, and everything in between. I am hoping that those dealing with mental illness will find comfort, friendship, awareness, entertainment, and maybe even a few good answers. Most importantly, I hope those of you out there struggling will realize you are not alone.

Pleased to hear that you have some answers, Pink. I was on Metformin for quite a while. Nice little drug with no complications. I hope it helps you.
ReplyDeleteMuch love, P xxx
Metformin can also increase your fertility. I know you want a baby but you want it when your body is healthy enough to carry it so please use birth control during this six month time-frame. I do not want you to go through what I went through.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad that the news wasn't terrible - and that you have some answers now. Keeping you in thought as you go through the next six months.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the new laptop, by the way ... and I hope you enjoy your Halloween as well!
I'm glad that you received some answers and that you and your doctor have a plan to move forward. I'll be thinking about you!
ReplyDeleteGood for you for going to the doctor, getting checked out, and getting the answers you needed! Not everyone takes those steps. I know I was once told I had PCOS, and later I never knew if it was true or not because at the time I had also thought I was pregnant since I was psychotic, and delusional. But I have heard good things about Metformin, and with the weight gain from the meds, it can't hurt to try that! I have wanted to try it myself actually. I hope it works really, really well for you. The weather is crisp and sunny here too (Florida).
ReplyDeletePraying for you and your health. Love good news!
ReplyDeleteSo glad to hear your encouraging news!
ReplyDeleteTo all: Thank you so much for your encouraging words, it brought a big grin to my face. xoxo
ReplyDeleteI have PCOS as well, have had it for 10+ year. Metformin can be a tricky drug, I have found that if I take it 1/2 way through a meal, the stomach upsets aren't as likely to happen. Also don't take it after eating a salad. Just what works for me. Glad it wasn't anything too serious.
