Oh, come in

It is an honor to have you. The contents for this blog are from my personal experiences. Sometimes I will write about being bipolar and sometimes I won't.

I have been Bipolar I for 10+years and medicated for over 9. This blog looks into my treatment history, current therapies, my interest, recipes, love, music, and everything in between. I am hoping that those dealing with mental illness will find comfort, friendship, awareness, entertainment, and maybe even a few good answers. Most importantly, I hope those of you out there struggling will realize you are not alone.

Count Down to Party Time

So my party is in 6 days and I hoped that it would be about 9 people and it is ..... so far. I invited 16 people and now I am starting to fear I am going to have more like 14 people. Which is wonderful news, and I am so very happy. I even feel such a sense of love that people care enough to come to my home.

DO you feel a "but" coming on......if so then you are right

But I am feeling nervous because we are on a tight budget and I need to buy wine and snacks for less than $35. Geesh...don't you just love living on a budget. Plus, there's the issue of my anxiety but I will be surrounded by friends and loved ones....and my momma which is an added bonus. So the party is in 6 days and I have a supportive group coming and a handful of them struggle with mental illness so I am concerned about their comfort level too. I just want all my guest to feel at ease and have a good time.

Okay, all will be well. I am so excited!

  1. This is so exciting, yet I totally get that it's causing a bit of anxiety. It sounds like you will be surrounded by those that are understanding and supportive of you - think of that if you get anxious. And realize that it's okay to step away to take a breather, to regroup.

I hope you all have fun!

  3. Sounds great! Let me know if you need help with the menu... I'm doing a frugal food blog now and I have a ton of recipes/ideas bookmarked. $35 should be more than enough. Thing about the wine is that you'll want a little bit, but when ppl ask what they can bring you can always let them know wine would be welcomed! I have a ton of ideas for you, healthy, yummy ones too!

  4. In fact, I am going to write a blog entry just for you! Are you feeding them dinner and snacks/appetizers... or is it later in the evening and you are feeding them just snacks/nibbly things plus alcohol? Is it a birthday so do you need a birthday cake in there as well??

  7. Thank you all so much for your support and comments. I just need to provide easy does it appetizers. I think I will make some brownies, Sangria and tea, and party crackers with a ranch and sour cream dip. Any other ideas are always welcome!

  8. Don't forget about easy ways to stretch less expensive wine, like Mulled Wine! Great for a colder evening and per several French wine enthusiasts I know, you should use the cheap stuff because the spices take away whatever flavor distinction between the good stuff and the cheap stuff is.

  10. Wendy: The Mulled Wine is something I will certainly try but I already bought things for the SAngria. But I will have to do mulled wine sometime because I love clove and orange together!

Catherine: Great link! I even have an old fashioned mini movie theater popcorn maker It will add some definite cuteness to the setup. Spicy Popcorn it is served in red and green dixie cups for Christmas feel.

    1. It went well even though half the guest didn't show up. I only had one minor panic attack as I cleaned before the guest arrived so I took some anxiety medicine. Once everyone was there we enjoyed ourselves but it was tiring to have on a Monday. But I would definitely do it again. Now I know what to expect. :-)

    2. Good! Attendance at holiday parties can be touch-and-go anyway because people are so busy, so half your guests coming is great and even more so that it was on a Monday!
