Oh, come in

It is an honor to have you. The contents for this blog are from my personal experiences. Sometimes I will write about being bipolar and sometimes I won't.

I have been Bipolar I for 10+years and medicated for over 9. This blog looks into my treatment history, current therapies, my interest, recipes, love, music, and everything in between. I am hoping that those dealing with mental illness will find comfort, friendship, awareness, entertainment, and maybe even a few good answers. Most importantly, I hope those of you out there struggling will realize you are not alone.

So what are we to do?

Let me get my thoughts straight.....see I have many conservative republican friends and I am VERY opposite. You are criticized for being on welfare but also criticized when you have an abortion because you recognize you can't handle the cost of raising a child. All the while the right wingers are fighting to keep their guns so they can kill the bastard children who break into their homes to support their addictions. Now mind you I am typically an optimist but WTF!!!!!

Does anyone else have strong feelings about this. I would love to hear from any angle.

  1. I'm on the same spectrum you are so really don't understand right-wingers. Nor do I want to.

  2. I haven't commented in a long while, Pink but I still read all the time when you post. I use to be a pure fundamental, right winger who thought only black and white. Until..........I had our third child. The fundamental churches we belonged to kept telling us that our son was "possessed" and our parenting was bad because he always acted out. Well duh fundamentalists that don't believe in mental illness. He is mentally ill and it's called "behavioral health" for a reason. We left that lifestyle abruptly and became moderates leaning toward the left. We are so much more free now that we don't have to answer to a controlling church. Our child is finally stable and we are doing so much better. I agree with all you wrote up there. It all makes sense. I am for guns in the home for hunting, etc. but there is not any reason why a person should own an assault rifle under any circumstances. And....I have Bipolar Disorder too by the way. That had to be kept under wraps at church or you would be told you weren't right with God if you said you had such an illness.

    1. I agree with everything you have just said. Your perspective is exactly what I am talking about. But you said it much better and more politely than I did. lol....I am so happy that your family has found a better way of life that is positive and supportive of your needs. And I to believe that owning a gun is okay when it is for hunting or home protection but there is no need for an assault rifle in any home. Thank you so much for reading Shari.

  3. Politics is such a mess, it overwhelms me. I actually shut down from it. That may be a useless thing to do, but I am fast discovering that it is the only way I can cope in the world!

  4. I am not a fan of politics at all - and totally keep myself out of it. I did not grow up in a politically active family, and neither did either of my parents. I have no problem with others being or feeling differently than I do, I just don't want it all shoved in my face. If not, I'm good to go!

By the way, I think you should check this out:
